A Search for the Perfect Gift
Our story began one day when my daughter and I set out to find a birthday gift for her best friend. We walked through the busy aisles of a shopping mall, looking for something meaningful — perhaps a necklace or a pair of earrings that would make her friend feel truly special.
We wanted the gift to be beautiful, personal, and memorable. Something that would carry emotion, not simply fill a gift box.
The Necklace We Couldn’t Choose
We stopped in front of an elegant jewelry store filled with sparkling displays. My daughter immediately noticed a beautiful necklace decorated with stones that caught the light.
“Can we get it, Dad?”
I hesitated. The necklace was beautiful, but the price was far beyond what felt reasonable for the occasion.
“Not this one, sweetheart,” I told her gently. “It’s beautiful, but it’s simply too expensive.”
The Question That Changed Everything
The disappointment in her eyes stayed with me. Then she asked a simple question:
“Why, Dad? What makes it so different?”
